8 Podcasts That You Must Be Listening to As an Aspiring Entrepreneur

podcasts-for-aspiring-entrepreneurs

Last year, I started to take my entrepreneurial aspirations a lot more seriously. I was entering my third year of blogging and my momentum had been slowly starting to gain traction. I started listening to podcasts more and more as the months went on, as I was sitting at my desk at my 9-5 or as I was getting ready for work in the mornings.

I ended up with an arsenal of eight podcasts that I love that help to provide wonderful information for anyone aspiring to be an entrepreneur. These podcasters almost became "friends in my head," since I didn't know anyone else on the type of entrepreneurial path that I was on. Listening to them helped me to feel like what I wanted to do in life was possible. The effect of hearing the stories of others' successes and lessons is amazing. You no longer feel like the "only one" who has the views that you have and you're armed with new information that can help you along your journey.

1. Learning with Leslie: Blogging, Online Business, Entrepreneurship

Leslie Samuel is a blogger and the creator of the "Interactive Biology Blog." In his podcasts, he shares information that is very practical for helping bloggers to create better content, to build their audiences, to use blogs to generate income, and much more. He often features guests who are experts in various areas of the digital marketing space, who also share their expertise.

2. Behind the Brilliance

Lisa Nicole Bell is the host of this weekly podcast. I love this podcast because of its candidness and realness. Oftentimes, when we see someone who is successful, we only see the finished product. We don't hear about their struggles, their failures, or their life lessons. Lisa interviews her guests, who have all made notable accomplishments, but instead of focusing only on those triumphs, she digs into the stories that lead up to their highlights. Listening to her podcasts really helps you to feel inspired. You walk away feeling like you have some kinship with the guests, and you're ready to take action to bring your dreams to life, too!

3. Happy Black Woman Podcast with Rosetta Thurman

First of all, I love the name of this podcast. It's often assumed by society and even by those around us, that black women are bitter or unhappy or struggling, but Rosetta is sure to provide the inspiration, the stories, and personal development tips to counter that. Her podcasts empower black women to transform their lives by becoming their best selves and pursuing entrepreneurship to share their gifts with the world and she regularly features guests who have done just that.

4. Mattieologie

Mattie James is a blogger who has about seven years of fashion and lifestyle blogging experience. In her podcast, she shares tips to help all bloggers to perform their best through optimal productivity, effective planning, and creating good content. Mattie is "straight talk, no chaser," as she shares tips that are practical and to-the-point.

5. ProBlogger Podcast: Blog Tips to Help You Make Money Blogging

Darren Rowse is a Blogger, Speaker, and Author who is behind the ProBlogger podcast. His podcast is all about providing information that can help bloggers to earn significant income from their blogs. He speaks about the importance of building an email list, how to build an engaged audience on your blog, and much more. His podcasts also all include "show notes" so you can visit his website to download notes that go with the podcasts.

6. So Money with Farnoosh Torabi

Farnoosh Torabi is a Financial Strategist, TV Host, and Author. I love her podcast because it focuses on money strategies and stories from those who have been financially successful. It particularly focuses on money strategies from women, which is so important to me. So often, women have trepidation when it comes to discussing money, from the things like asking for a raise, to salary negotiation, to developing financial habits that are healthy. Farnoosh and her guests discuss all of that, making you feel empowered to flourish financially after each listen.

7. The $100 MBA Show

The $100 MBA Show is hosted by Omar Zenhom. He provides quick-hit advice for online entrepreneurs to help them get better at business. His topics range from personal development topics, such as finding your passion and how to avoid being lazy when trying to be consistent, to action-oriented topics, such as how to fire an employee, or how to test out a webinar idea. He shares lessons from the years of experience that he's had as an entrepreneur in the online space.

8. Myleik Teele's Podcast

Myleik Teele is the entrepreneur behind the successful brand, Curlbox, a monthly hair care product subscription box for women with curly hair. Her podcast is great because it covers all aspects of life and she often uses her podcasts to have Q&A time for the many questions that she receives from those who look up to her. Her advice is blunt and honest, which to me is the best kind of advice. For someone like me, who is the big sister (I have one younger sister), her podcast is like listening to the big sister I've never had, who is giving me advice on careers, relationships, friends, and business.
